Housefull 5: A Missed Chance at Comedy
When Housefull 5 released, expectations were high. The franchise has always been known for over-the-top comedy, chaos, and laughter. But this time, the film felt very different.
The story began with a murder on a cruise, setting the stage for a murder mystery. While the idea sounded fresh, the execution made it feel more like a Masti series than a true Housefull installment. The humor, especially the double meaning jokes, failed to land and often felt forced.
One of the biggest disappointments was how Soundarya Sharma was used only as eye candy. The film leaned on objectifying its female characters, which didn’t sit right with many viewers. Despite a strong ensemble cast, the movie lost the unique touch that made the earlier Housefull films so popular.
On the brighter side, the casting itself worked well, and some performances stood out. Akshay Kumar once again proved why he remains a fan favorite with his sharp comic timing. The film also included nostalgic callbacks like Jolly and JD from Housefull 2 and even the memorable Akshay vs. monkey fight from the first film. Another unusual twist was that the movie was released with two alternate endings, each revealing a different killer.
Verdict
With such a big cast and potential, Housefull 5 could have been much better. Instead, it struggled to capture the original charm of the franchise. While performances and references gave fans a few moments to enjoy, the overall movie fell short of expectations.
